Parent Partnering

We acknowledge that the pace of our modern lives, especially for families with young children, is sometimes too fast. It is our intention to minimise peripheral stress for families through our parent partnering philosophy.

Nourishing Meals

No more rushing in the morning trying to fill lunchboxes! We have a large, modern kitchen where our catering team prepares a mid-morning snack, cooked lunch and afternoon snack (for our aftercare children). The nutritious menu, which embraces low sugar ingredients, was designed by a parent, who is also a leading local dietician.

Tadpoles

The easy-to-use design keeps parents up-to-date with current news at the school, as well as reports on progress. Daily photos give parents a peek into the classroom, where they can observe our ‘learning through play’ techniques. Other features include viewing the child’s portfolio, marking a child as sick and having access to all school notices and general info.

Aftercare Facility

To cater for our full-day working parents, we offer a comprehensive aftercare facility which runs until 17h00 daily. For those who need to be on the road early or dropping off siblings at Waterfall Prep and College, we offer an early morning drop off from 07h00.

We also host a fun holiday care programme for when leave days are short, which runs from 07h00 to 17h00, Monday to Friday during school holidays. Aftercare and Holiday care is included in the full day fees.

Paid Extramural Activities

We offer a broad range of paid extramural activities with classes conveniently hosted at our school. This allows for less commuting and more active fun for your little ones.

These include Karate, Hip Hop, Track and Trail, Little Strikers, Ballet, Playball and Gymnastics.

These activities are optional and are offered at an additional charge. Should you wish for your child to participate, contact us for further information.

Community Connection

It is a core value of our team to help instil values of kindness and care, as we believe one can make a positive difference, no matter how young their age.

As a proudly South African school, we actively connect with our local community through our kindness initiatives, teacher mentoring and through a relationship with non-profit organisation, Focus on iThemba.

Their key focus areas include the iThemba Educare Programme in which they partner with local pre-schools to ensure elevated Early Childhood Development. Another is their life-changing iThemba Scholar Programme where deserving young girls and boys are awarded donor-funded scholarships to attend Waterfall Schools.

We encourage donations towards our annual Winter Warmth Drive where blankets and pre-loved teddies are collected for the little ones who attend Focus on iThemba’s partner pre-schools. In addition, Paula Mason, shares curriculum ideas and teaching tips with these schools. In 2019, we were proud to partner with Focus on iThemba through their iThemba Scholars Programme, and welcomed two little iThemba Scholars to our school. The aim of this programme is to expand annually by funding two additional children, beginning in Grade 0000 and up to 00. These children then have the opportunity to continue to Waterfall Preparatory.
